This week's sale features property from the estate of Constance Howarth.  Fashion enthusiasts will know her as the famous fashion designer who not only designed clothes, but also created the fabric, made the dresses and then modelled them herself. Constance first gained success in America after leaving her native Bolton, where her daring designs and brilliant colours made a splash and by the end of the 1950s she was running her own business with headquarters in Oxford Street, offices in New York and Australia and customers including the Duchess of Kent.

Constance sought inspiration from her travels and this is evident in her own personal possessions that feature in this week's sale.  Beautiful chinoiserie items including a two door side cabinet (Lot 646, est £70-100), and a collection of oriental items including a set of mahogany chairs (Lot 654, est £350-450) feature, as well as a range of prints and paintings.
