David Porter, Consultant & Auctioneer
David’s passion for antiques began while studying History of Art at Manchester University.  After a year spent teaching at the British School in Rio de Janeiro, David returned to the UK to pursue a full time career in antiques, joining Bonhams as a Porter.

He gradually worked his way up, being promoted to General Gallery Manager before becoming head of Silver at Bonhams, during which he ran the department’s fortnightly auctions and established specialist silver sales at Bonhams Lot’s Road

Widely acknowledged as an expert in the field, David is now a specialist consultant to several auction houses and the Metropolitan Police and has presented various art and antiques television programmes, including the silver documentary 'Down in the Silver Vaults’.
